Computer question from Laboratory Attendant exam, 2026 by JKSSB

Anaya is making a long report in MS Word. She wants pages 1-3 to use Roman numerals (1. ii. iii) and the rest to start from 1.2.3. She does not know how to set different page numbering styles in one document. What should she do?

Correct Answer: Option B — Add a section break and format page numbers separately
Why this is the correct answer:
By default, MS Word applies formatting like page numbers to the entire document. To use two different numbering styles (such as Roman numerals for the intro pages and Arabic numerals for the main body), Anaya needs to split the document into distinct Sections.

Here is the exact process she would follow:

Place the cursor at the very end of page 3.

Go to the Layout tab, click Breaks, and select Next Page under Section Breaks.

Double-click the footer on page 4, look at the Header & Footer tab, and click Link to Previous to turn it off (this unlinks the two sections).

Go to Page Number > Format Page Numbers to change the style to 1, 2, 3 and choose Start at: 1.

Go back to the first section (pages 1-3) and format those page numbers as i, ii, iii.

Why the other options are incorrect:
A & C: "Mixed Numbering" and the "Pagination Wizard" are not real features or tools in MS Word.

D: Font settings only change the appearance of text (like making it bold or changing the typeface); they cannot change the page numbering logic or style.
