Largely, yes. Both exams share General Studies, current affairs, essay, analytical ability and answer writing, and both include an optional subject in Mains. But they are not identical: JKAS also follows the JKPSC syllabus and pattern and tests Jammu & Kashmir-specific topics. Both UPSC CSE and JKPSC JKAS Mains include one optional subject across two papers, so the optional matters a great deal for final rank. Quintessence guides students through choosing an optional and supports them through it: we hold seminars with industry leaders, academicians and subject experts on the different optional subjects, so a candidate chooses on the strength of having heard the subject taught rather than on hearsay. For the teaching itself we work through tie-ups with domain-expert and industry-leading institutions, and students who go through us receive the benefits of those arrangements. Q360 is Quintessence’s one-to-one mentorship programme for UPSC and JKPSC aspirants. It is built around the individual student: a personal roadmap, target setting, progress tracking, doubt resolution, PYQ-based strategy, answer-writing evaluation, test analysis, revision planning and regular reviews with a mentor, who is often a former topper or an interview-qualified candidate. Mentor contact is arranged to suit the student rather than a timetable: in person at the Srinagar centre, over the phone, or by Google Meet, whichever fits around their week.
