 Shakuntala Devi was a world-renowned mental calculator who demonstrated extraordinary speed and accuracy in solving complex mathematical problems. The 1982 Guinness World Record: She earned her place in history by mentally multiplying two 13-digit numbers (7,686,369,774,870 x 2,465,099,745,779) in just 28 seconds. Beating the Computer: In 1977, at Southern Methodist University, she extracted the 23rd root of a 201-digit number in 50 seconds, beating a Univac 1101 computer, which took 62 seconds to perform the same calculation. Legacy: Beyond mathematics, she was a prolific writer, covering topics ranging from puzzles and mathematics to astrology and social issues.
