Correct Answer:
Option C —
India & Bangladesh
New Moore Island (also known as South Talpatti in Bangladesh or Purbasha in India) was a small, uninhabited offshore sandbar island located in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of the Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta. It emerged after the 1970 Bhola cyclone near the mouth of the Hariabhanga River, which demarcates the maritime border between India and Bangladesh. Both India and Bangladesh claimed sovereignty over the island due to potential oil and natural gas reserves in the surrounding seabed and its strategic impact on maritime boundary claims. Around 2010, satellite imagery confirmed that the island had completely submerged beneath the sea due to sea-level rise and coastal erosion, resolving the physical dispute.
